Tips to design your custom apparel

As pet owners, we always want our dog to look, feel and be the best. We love when people compliment them because it makes us feel like the best paw-rents ever!
That’s why at Love Light & Paws you can custom-design your dog’s apparel so they will surely be turning heads all around the park. We love seeing everyone’s creations and encourage you to look for the most creative ideas and finally make them come to life. If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few tips:

– When making a creative text, make sure you double-check for any typos and/or grammar. A quick tip is to send the text to your family and friends so they can help you proofread what you’ve written. Once you are sure that what you wrote is correct, the only thing you need to worry about is what style of apparel you’re going to go with. We have a big variety for you to choose from; from basic bandanas to fleece hoodies.

–  If you’re not sure of how a color combination works, we suggest looking at a Color Wheel. If you haven’t heard of it, here is how it works: the color wheel is composed of primary colors (yellow, red, and blue), secondary colors (orange, purple, and green), and six tertiary colors. Every color is placed on the wheel according to their color relationship.

Now, time to combine them. You can select an analogous scheme where the colors sit next to each other on the color wheel. For example, red, red-orange, orange, and yellow-orange. In a complementary scheme, when the colors are at opposite ends of the wheel, these colors will create a vibrant look when combined. For example, purple and yellow or blue and orange.

And finally, a triadic color scheme is where you use three hues evenly spaced on the wheel, such as turquoise, fuchsia, and yellow-orange.

So, you’re an artist? You can upload your own digital design as a .jpeg directly to our platform. Take time to explore your ideas, sketch out everything that comes to mind, and choose what you really like most. We love to see all the creativity you have but when it comes to designing, we recommend you keep it simple. If a design is full of little details, the big concept will get lost and you don’t really want that to happen. Remember, your dog is probably going to pass people in a small amount of time. We’re true believers in “less is more.” Always save your design in high quality! You don’t want it to look blurry.

We’re sure these tips were helpful, so what are you waiting for? Design away! We’ll be happy to see everything you create, and let your dog be the center of attention!
